Cape shows Luxembourg reinterpretation of « La Voix Humaine »
Luxembourg cultural workers and their international partners venture into a special project: With “La Voix Humaine”, a multidisciplinary performance is being created in Cape Ettelbrück, which will be performed there for the first time on April 23 and 24. In co -production with the Escher Theater, soprano Mária Devitzaki and choreographer Rhiannon Morgan go to this staging that wants to combine music, dance and video projections.
The basis of the production is a monologue by Jean Cocteau, which Francis Poulenc in 1959. The plot follows a young woman (Elle) who tries to regain her ex-lover in a last desperate telephone conversation.
The artistic team, which includes the dance specialist Baptiste Hilbert, the costume designer Peggy Würth and the dramaturge Renelde Pierlot, wants to research non -verbal forms of expression. They are looking for opportunities to make the emotional depth and the inner tornness of the protagonist visible. How can the varieties of feelings between love, loss, manipulation, pain and loneliness be brought into a theater area and the actual text?
For this purpose, the team uses a trick: a choreographic “double” by Elle extends the figure in the room and translates their emotions into a visual language, according to the theater makers. The phone call, the central motif of the piece, symbolizes the fragile connection between the lovers and refers to the role of modern technology in relationships.
In addition, Antoine Colla (lighting design) and Jonathan Christoph (video) want to contribute their part to give live perfomate an almost cinematic impression. With your means, you are looking for ways to adapt the stage space to the desired emotional situation.
The pianist Konstantino’s Diminakis has a special task: he embodies the orchestra on the piano in this reduced version of the work. The challenge for him will be to express the musical sensory reinforcements shown by the sound width of an orchestra with the reduced possibilities on the piano live and to connect with the singing and dance. Tickets for the evenings in the Ettelbrücker Cape (26 euros, 13 euros enabled, Kulturpass possible) can be found on Tel. 268 126 81 or by email to [email protected].
