Can I run out of a parliamentary group at the Senate

The parliamentary group of the Party of Young People (Pot) from the Senate was abolished on Monday, after two senators of this party, Liviu-Iulian Fodoca and Stefan Borțun, announced their resignation in plenary.

‘I want to take the fact that, according to the Senate Regulation, the parliamentary group may no longer exist today. I will not discuss anything about the motivations of our two colleagues who decided to leave the party on the lists they entered the Parliament. I wish the two colleagues success, I wish the other colleagues from the Party of young people, who, starting with this moment, will activate as senators without a parliamentary group, as non-affiliated senators, « said Liviu-Lucian Mazilu in plenary.

Senator Liviu-Iulian Fodoca, chosen in the constituency no.33 Sălaj, said that he resigned because of the lead, who chose ‘a wrong road’, claiming that, gradually, the political project was subordinated to the interests of another parliamentary party.

‘Unfortunately, leadership may have chosen the wrong way. Gradually, the political project was subordinated to the interests of another parliamentary party, instead of being developed autonomously, with direct responsibility towards the citizens. The centralization of decisions in the hands of a small group and the arbitrary practices of appointments between counties, without criteria of competence or merit, have compromised the confidence in the initially assumed direction, ‘Fodoca said.

Senator Ștefan Borțun, chosen in the district number 38, Tulcea, transmitted, in turn, that he resigned from this party, after months of ‘calls and sincere efforts’ addressed to the party leadership, in the hope of carrying out a political project.

‘The decision to resign was not taken in a hurry nor from personal ambitions. It is the result of months of sincere calls and steps addressed to the party leadership, in the hope that we will be able to open this political project to our society, to the country’s professionals, to people who demand real and profound reforms. I entered politics for people, not for functions, groups or party calculations, « he pointed out.
