Call on land and at sea at night
Just from midnight, an emergency line of emergency calls from Langjökull received, right next to the mountain Klakki. Upon closer reflection, there were two men traveling on snowmobiles and they had landed in considerable firmness.
This is stated in a report from the Landsbjörg Accident Protection Company, which states that the men were well equipped and no danger of trips but they requested assistance in releasing their sleds.
Rescue forces south of Langjökull were proclaimed as well as a rescue team from Borgarfjörður. The rescue team went well to the glacier and at 3 pm the first rescuers who were on sleds, on the slate.
Well managed to assist in releasing the solid sleds and the sledges were attached to the regions, where gasoline stocks were scarce.
Fishing boat in trouble just north of Hornbjörg
The announcement also states that right up from 1 o’clock last night, a request for assistance was received from a fishing boat, which was then just north of Hornbjargi. That mishap had been that oil went off the steering system and the boat therefore uncontrollably. Four people are on board, weather fine and not a big danger on the trip.
However, the guard ship, which was located in Grundarfjörður, was sent west and the crew of the Gísli Jón’s rescue ship in Ísafjörður was proclaimed. Both ships were leaving port just about half past two last night.
At five o’clock this morning, Gísli Jón arrived on the boat and just about 10 minutes later a nerve had come between the ships and the captain of Gísli Jón set the direction into Ísafjörður. The tow has not been completely smooth, but after an hour of tow, one element of the towed nerves on board the fishing boat had broken and had to stop a trip while the boat’s crew fixed it.
That work was completed and just about half past eight in the morning, it was possible to continue a journey. The ships are now at about 6 nautical miles or 11 km per hour, westbound to the north of Hornvík.
The guard ship Thor continues to go north for the West Fjords on the direction of Gísli Jón and the fishing boat.
