Do you become despondent of all the climate news, or do it just encourage you to take action? And who actually bears the responsibility for the climate? The citizen, the government or the industry? Five Belgian universities would like to hear your opinion in the Environmental Barometer prepared by them.
Nobody is happy with the latest reports from the European Climate Service Copernicus and the UN weather organization WMO. Month after month, temperature records die. Last year the hottest year ever was measured. Europe is the fastest warming continent on earth and had a particularly wet year, with the heaviest floods since 2013.

So many alarm bells, but do those messages also motivate us to change our behavior? Researchers from five Belgian universities want to find this out with the environmental barometer. « With this questionnaire we want to understand how residents of Belgium experience the environmental crisis. They therefore contain questions that gauge your opinions, perceptions and behavior about this, » the researchers write.

Are you going to fly less soon, or do you think the aviation sector should work on cleaner aircraft? Does change in your own kitchen start, or do you not believe that one person can make a difference? Does the government have to take the lead, or is it up to the largest polluters China and the US to reduce CO2 emissions? And how far can you go our climate policy? Is it too strict today, or are extra measures – such as taxes on paved front gardens – just a good idea?
