Calin Georgescu, called to hearings for legionary quotes

Calin Georgescu was called on Tuesday at the General Prosecutor’s Office, to be heard by the prosecutors after he reproduced a quote from the former legionary leader Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, judicial sources for Agerpres said.

According to sources, the meeting with prosecutors was set for 12:00.

On May 17, Călin Georgescu participated with the gold leader, George Simion, at a show from Realitatea Plus, and at one point he reproduces a quote from Corneliu Zelea Codreanu.

‘I say this: we did not fight for toys, as Avram Iancu said, but for our rights. And I complete: that the one who struggles even alone with a handful of bravery for his nation and his country and for God will never be defeated, « says Călin Georgescu, in a moderate show by Anca Alexandrescu.

Last week, officials in the General Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that it is analyzed if the criminal prosecution of Călin Georgescu is required.

The former candidate for the presidential elections is criminally investigated, under judicial control, for the commission of six crimes, including the promotion of ideas, conceptions or fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic doctrines.

Thus, Georgescu is accused that, on October 20, 2021, in a speech supported in front of a multitude of protesters against the restrictions imposed in the context of the Coronavirus pandemic, organized in the University Square in Bucharest, he reproduced the words, gestures and tone of Marshal Ion Antonescu in the speech held by the latter of October 640.

An example in this sense is the phrase spoken by Georgescu: ‘Through peace and faith, through order and union, through work and love, with God before’, and at the end of the speech, he performed the legionary/Nazi greeting.

Also, Georgescu seems to have the praise of Corneliu Zelea Codreanu and Marshal Lon Antonescu and in an interview from June 2020.
