The Food and Veterinary Agency (CAA) has introduced measures of intensified surveillance of the plague disease in small ruminants, especially in the region of Western Macedonia, in order to prevent the intake and spread of the disease from neighboring Albania in the country.

The CAA says that the control of the movement and transport of animals from the species of sheep and goats has been intensified after the notification received yesterday evening through the European Disease System (ADIS) of the World Animal Health Organization – WOAH, that in the Republic of Albania in the Republic of Albania, the first

CAA has made a decision to ban imports and transit live domestic and wild small ruminants, seeds, eggs and embibo and wild small ruminants, home -made meat and wild small privates, products and processing of home and wild small ruminants, milk and milk and milk products from domestic and livestock products, the possibility of spreading the disease.

Given the new condition, and in order to reduce the risk of occurrence and expansion of the disease, the CAA informed the veterinary companies and the official veterinarians of conducting intensified surveillance of sheep and goats and reporting any suspicious case of the disease. The solution for security measures in terms of the plague disease in the small ruminants has been in force that the Food and Veterinary Agency adopted on 09.08.2024.

The Food and Veterinary Agency has informed the Ministry of Interior of the new situation with the occurrence of the disease in the border region with Macedonia to take intensified measures to oversee and prevent possible smuggling of living animals from the species of sheep and goats from Albania to our country.
