By motorcycle to Berlin and back – daily

Arsenal of Opportunities

Hiking from Vilnius to Berlin and back (2 135 km, a total of 23 hours 54 minutes) drove 125 cubic meters. cm motorcycles: A. Bubin – KTM 125 Duke, L. Pečiukaitis – CFMOTO 125K.

Endurance motorcyclists have repeatedly proved their potential.

Bubin has traveled Europe from the northernmost point (Nordkap in Norway) to the southernmost (tariff in Spain) in a record time (55 hours 55 minutes), but also over the twelve days of 14,545 km from the Atlantic to the Pacific.

L. Pečiukaitis has visited 27 different European countries within fourteen days and 23 thousand. km (1,500 km / day on such trips – nothing unusual).

According to A. Bubin, events of the 2024 Motorcycle of the Year are the beginnings of an ambitious plan. Then he and L. Pečiukaitis joked that such a technique could challenge the Iron Butt.

To prevent this trip to be just another hiking ride, they came up with an additional mission to raise funds for children with oncology.

The plan was adjusted

The weather did not make travelers on a broken outing. On the early morning of May 25, the thermometers from Lithuania showed just 3 ° C heat and fog was fog.

As the Berlin approached, the rain broke, without leaning even when the home turned.

The initial goal was to achieve Wroclaw – just over 800 km, which would have been enough to overcome the initial Iron Butt Association (IBA) challenge – more than 1,600 km less than a day. However, as we approached Warsaw, the average speed indicated that more could be driven. After a route, motorcyclists decided to reach Germany.

« The trip was better than we expected, so after evaluating the distance and the rest of the time we decided to increase the initial plan to 2,000 km. To my knowledge, this achievement with small -class motorcycles in Europe has not been recorded so far.

The trip was better than we expected, so we increased the plan to 2,000 km.

The motorcycles did not disappoint

The average fuel consumption of A. Bubin’s KTM 125 Duke was 3.6 l/100 km.

This was far exceeded by the manufacturer’s declared 2.42 l/100 km, but the motorcyclist noted that the difference was due to the constant driving by exploiting almost the entire 11 kW engine power. The maximum speed was about 95 km/h.

« The engine usually worked at high speeds. It is possible to drive more economically, but this hike was not for economy – we were looking for as much distance as possible, » Bubin explained.

According to L. Pečiukaitis, an unusual journey was more of a challenge for motorcyclists themselves than their technicians. Both wanted to make sure that smaller motorcycles could quickly and reliably overcome long distances.

« Our motorcycles have low -working volume engines, but traveling are much easier than our parents or grandparents when Iz or Jawa have tried to achieve carpats, » the motorcyclist said.

How will IBA react?

For those seeking the Iron Buck Certificate, one of the Safe Motorcycle Motorcycle for Large distances should be overcome and providing all the evidence of the travel.

The easiest option is the Saddlesore 1000. This is a classic ordeal that has existed since IBA in the US. Its essence is to travel at least 1,600 km (1,000 miles) within 24 hours.

As the association expanded and develops units in other parts of the world, regional challenges have also occurred. One of them is the Saddlesore 2000 for those who cover more than 2,000 km per day. It is this certificate that A. Bubinas and L. Pečiukaitis are currently claiming.

According to unofficial data, they can become the first Europeans to record such achievement with 125 cubic meters. cm motorcycles. All you have to do is apply to the official approval of the IBA.
