Bus shed was hit by SL bus-again
On Tuesday morning, a bus backed into a bus shed on the bus square in Vällingby center in western Stockholm.
– The bus cut was injured, but no people were injured in the accident. The bus is salvaged from the site. The driver is taken out of service according to routine, says Caroline Carlson, communicator at Keolis, who runs the buses in the area on SL’s behalf.
In February, a similar one occurred event On the same bus square. Then a cure was hit by a bus and a person suffered minor injuries. Another person was shocked.
– Of course, it is not positive that two accidents occurred at the scene. At the event in February, our driver misjudged the distance when the driver would leave the stop and the rear of the bus came into contact with the bus shed. At the incident today, the accident was caused by the driver trying to reverse to get past an obstacle, says Caroline Carlsson, pointing out that the course of events differs.
– Our investigation is now allowed to show how we should avoid something similar on site again.
The last few months SL buses have been involved in several incidents. In February a bus shed was demolished in Årsta when it was hit by a bus and in March a woman was injured since she became hit by a bus at the Island Square.
Last year, two fatal accidents occurred at bus terminals in the Stockholm area – one at Brommaplan In August and just under two months later Another one in Jakobsberg.
Elin Lindström, who is a press communicator at SL, emphasizes that all these events differ significantly in terms of course.
– Every accident that happens in traffic, especially where people are injured, is one too much, she says and continues:
– As a traveler and residents, it is important to know serious incidents with buses involved are very unusual in terms of the large amount of traffic we drive.
According to Elin Lindström working SL actively together with the traffic operators on road safety security issues.
– It is about, among other things, that the environments our buses run in should be adapted so that the buses can run in a road -safe way. But when you drive a lot of traffic, things can happen. Then it is important to have routines for what we do afterwards. Accidents of personal injury are followed by police investigations, but in addition, internal security investigations and causal analyzes are also conducted.
Are there any measures taken to avoid additional incidents?
– It is important that we have a detailed picture of what has happened to not only take action, but also to ensure that we are actually taking the right action, forward, says Elin Lindström.
