Burglars block house residents in Neu-Ulm in heating cellars
Masked and armed burglars in Neu-Ulm injured the inhabitant of a family home and locked it into a basement. The 57-year-old probably surprised the perpetrators when he wanted to go to bed, the police said. The burglars immediately attacked the man on Saturday morning around 1.30 a.m., overpowered him and threatened him with a knife and a hammer.
According to the police, the two perpetrators ransacked the entire house in search of valuables. Then they blocked the 57-year-old in the heating cellar. It was not known whether the burglars fled with prey.
Burglars lock Neu-Ulmer: neighbor hears screams
The 57-year-old sat in the basement and called for help on Saturday morning. A neighbor heard the screams and alerted the police. The fire brigade had to violently open the door of the heating cellar. The man then came to a clinic with minor injuries, which he could leave shortly afterwards.
The police are now looking for burglars and witnesses who can provide clues. Accordingly, the two perpetrators are said to have been between 45 and 60 years old and have carried training jackets. (dpa)
