Brunchbar terrace for second time in a week damaged by turning truck: « This can’t continue like this » (Temse)

The terrace of Brunchbar Copines in Temse was badly damaged in the night from Monday to Tuesday. According to the managers, this was done by a turning truck. « It is already the second time in a week, but this time the perpetrator is missing every track, » says fellow maker Blomme Maes. « Next year we should definitely review the layout of our terrace. »
FiME Bomme Maes and Helena van der Gucht opened their brunch bar six months ago in the historic building De Gulden Cop, on the corner of Kasteelstraat and the Markt. « A nice start, we are very satisfied with where we are now, » Blomme looks back. With the summer in the offing, the manageress decided to invest in a terrace. They chose to defend that with panels.
The terrace has been there for two months now, but it was not spared from misery in that short period. « Last Wednesday, a turning truck damaged three panels, » says Blomme. « Very unfortunate, but we saw it happen and we were able to neatly arrange everything with the driver. A day after we were able to do the necessary repairs, because luckily we have a number of spare panels. »

In the night from Monday to Tuesday it was again a price. « On Tuesday morning we unfortunately again found severe damage to two panels. The cause is clearly again of a truck and not by vandalism. »

« Unfortunately, there is no trace of the perpetrator and for the time being there have been no witnesses to report. Either he committed a flight crime or he has not felt the collision, » says Blomme.
For the duo it is again a line through the bill. « We reported the police. Hopefully they can still detect the driver on the basis of camera images, » it says. « Next year we will be forced to review the design of our terrace, because this cannot continue. » (PVS)
