Why is the exhibition in Ciekurkalns and only one day?

Because I live in Ciekurkalns myself. Last year, the project was announced by the vectors of society, which lasted two years. I went to the first event they organized, where I told about my brooches. The project organizers then offered to organize a brooch exhibition. I agreed to the idea, because – how can we unite our neighbors and how can we know each other? So everything went like a squirrel! Other Ciekurkalnians came to the rescue, offering to find the premises and ensuring publicity for the exhibition. I didn’t expect it to turn into this. The event will also be enhanced by musical performances, as well as everyone interested will have the opportunity to create their own brooch.

On the other hand, the exhibition takes place only for one day, as the furniture salon allows us to give us the end of working hours.

You have almost four thousand brooches in the collection. How many of them will be on display?

Most. True, at the moment I only collect only Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian brooches, amber brooches, USSR brooches, because at that time I have lived both me, my mom and ome; Also in Czechoslovakia brooches … At this exhibition, my collection may be reduced, because I will also have brooches for viewing, which I no longer count for the collection, so if any lady is interested, they will be available.

There will also be brooches produced in the 1990s, which are already counting, but what is actually consumer production. For example, the brooches made by our own creation were of high quality and can still be used. But if we take out the products purchased at Chinese online stores, it remains to pin it once or twice when the metal color begins to change, and God does not give it if you accidentally bloine it – the metal becomes black and it is no longer possible to clean it. But my collection also has one box with such brooches to stay in history, as they will also be counted in vintage after forty years.

How did your interest in brooches began and how many years the collection has been made?

This is the eighth year I collect brooches and my ome is to blame! (Smiles.) Shortly before going on, she told me every day: Look in the closet and take everything she needs! Among the belongings there were both the 50s and 60s brooches – strawberries, cherry – and Czech brooches, which when I saw, « Oh, how beautiful! At that time, I had a collection of orchids, whose copies occasionally gone in misery, but I realized about the brooches – they wouldn’t end it!

That’s how it all started. I started looking for information on the Internet and wondering if it is possible to buy brooches at all. At that time on Saturdays, there was a flea market in Adazi, and there are also the greatest benefits for my collection.

What are the ways to come to you – they are also looking for auctions and social networks?

There are more auctions in the winter, as the flea markets are not in Latvia at that time. There are people who know that I collect brooches and they deliver to me. It came from my neighbor to ten brooches. My mother -in -law gave me a lot of her own and my mother’s brooch – mostly amber products.

I even had the thought of creating a museum where I could exhibit my collection. I even wrote a business plan, two years ago I participated in the competition through the State Employment Agency. I was the best project in the fifty, but the mentor said that although everything is cool, I wouldn’t profit from it all. Also, the museums I talked to were not interested in exhibiting my collection. But I don’t give up!

Maybe a special story is linked to your brooch?

Of course! When I made my own Youtube I also made friends with the channel with Ukrainian girls, including a master who has mastered the old Czech technology, learned to make very beautiful spider brooches and even created his own brand. I wanted to buy one of her creations, unfortunately in Ukraine the war started and it was no longer possible. But we continued to communicate, she wanted to find out how to create her own museum. Since I had gone through this process, I sent her all the information and, in the end, received her the wonderful « spider » she made as a gift.

Are brooches today as an accessory still topical?

Very topical! In addition, they are becoming more expensive. Eight years ago, I bought a particular brooch for 50 cents and they almost threw it, but now similar brooches cost thirty euros. When I asked at the markets why so expensive, I am answered: how, it is a Czech brooch! ((Smile.) I would understand if there were silver, gold and diamonds, but there is glass and metal … The brooch wore both Queen Elizabeth of England, and former US Secretary of State Madeline Olbright. She, going to a meeting with politicians, at the garment jewelry, which had never been chosen inadvertently and told her mood and intentions. So it’s a whole science.
