British Prime Minister sought security guarantees to Ukraine, Trump avoided his petition
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that a mineral agreement with Ukraine is a security guarantee that Kiev needs against Russia, rejecting the request of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer for additional military support from the US.

Starmer, who first met with Trump in the White House, sought to get Trump's affection, saying that peace in Ukraine became possible only thanks to him.
Before the meeting, Starmer emphasized that long -term peace in Ukraine is not possible without solid American security guarantees, which Trump has almost completely rejected.
Trump expressed optimism that an agreement on a ceasefire in Ukraine could be achieved and that Russian President Vladimir Putin would respect such an agreement.
« We are discussing how it can function. We have to ensure that the agreement is ongoing, » the British Prime Minister emphasized.
Starmer has indicated that Britain will increase defensive consumption and will seek to convince the US president that Europe will provide support and security guarantees to Kiev if peace negotiations with Russia be successful.
On Thursday, Putin warned the « Western Elite » not to try to sabotage the normalization of relations between Russia and the United States, saying that Moscow would use his diplomacy and intelligence services to prevent such attempts. His comments seemed to be a concealed message to the European Union and Britain.
From the beginning of his second term, Trump warned of the launch of trade wars and promised to introduce customs – both enemies and allies.
« We want any economic relationship with the United Kingdom to be based on reciprocity and equal trade conditions, » said Trump's advisor.
