British, 41, the only surviving aircraft crash in India: ‘From a huge shock he doesn’t remember how he came out’

We are broken, simply broken, said Brother Vishwasha Kumar Ramesha, 40, the only survivoring passenger after a terrible crash of Air India Flight aircraft 171 in Ahmedabad. Although the figures are not official, more than 290 people were killed.

The plane crashed just a few minutes after the departure from India, and the cause of the accident was still not confirmed. Among the dead were eleven children, while the total number of passengers included 53 British, 169 Indian, seven Portuguese and one Canadian citizen.
Vishwash, a British citizen who lives in Leicester, is still in a state of shock. His cousin Jay added that after the accident, Vishwash was able to call his father, describing that he was « all in the blood » and has injuries on his face.
– I think he’s recovering as much as he can now, but this is a huge shock. I have no words for this tragedy, ”Jay said. Vishwash’s cousin Ajay Valgi told the BBC that the survivors only briefly said that he was « good », but that they had not received any additional information about his brother Ayaya, who was also on the plane.
– He’s not just my cousin, he’s my brother and my best friend. We are waiting for the news. This is unbearable, ”Valgi said.
The family is grateful that Vishwash is alive, but is deeply affected by the loss of another son and all other victims.
Indian investigators are still trying to reconstruct the last moments of the flight. Boeing said they were aware of the situation and cooperated with the authorities to discover what led to the tragedy. Meanwhile, the whole community in Leicester, where the Ramesh family lives, united in support, while the world awaits answers to one key question – how could this unimaginable disaster come.
