Britain has successfully tested a new weapon that ‘burns » swarms of drones

The United Kingdom has tested a new electronic weapon that is able to « burn » hostile drones or disable them with powerful radio frequencies.

He writes about it Financial Timesreports « European Truth ».

It is a Rapidestroyer, developed by a consortium led by a French defensive giant Thales. It uses high -power radio frequency radiation for remote disruption or destruction of drones electronics.

According to the British Ministry of Defense, in a recent test, these weapons neutralized two swings of eight drones, and in general, more than 100 drones were detected, attacked and destroyed during the tests.

The technology is still in the early stage: Rapidstroyer is placed on the body trucks and requires considerable energy.

As it is noted, the new technology of electromagnetic weapons emits a wide bundle of energy, which is relatively cheap and capable of disrupting several drones at the same time.

Experts say that this makes weapons effective against hostile swarms, although its non -selection reduces the efficiency in infrastructure protection, such as airports.

« High -power microwave systems are potentially a very effective means of protecting from a large number of drones, and possibly winged missiles, in situations where their wide cone does not create more problems than it solves, » said Justin Bronk from the Royal Institute of Joint Services in London.

He noted that under certain conditions – for example, on the base in the desert, on the forefront, « where it is not too concerned about what is happening on the other side, » or on warships in the sea – they significantly enhance the anti -diseases.

It is also expected that Rapidestroyer will also become an element of missile defense.

Note that in early December the British army successfully conducted a test of new laser weaponscapable of destroying drones.

It works, directing the intense ray of infrared light in the form of energy to the target with the help of advanced sensors and tracking systems that maintain fixation and accuracy in real time.

At the end of December, the British soldiers were successfully tested a radio frequency weapon of directional energy (RFDEW), which is able to identify, track and striking a number of threats on land, in the air and at sea.
