Britain and New Zealand strengthen military cooperation. The Starmer and Luxon premiere meet

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his New Zealand colleague Christopher Luxon are expected to agree on deepening defense and security relationships, including the strengthening of Ukraine’s support when they meet on Tuesday, Starmer’s office said.

The leaders will be able to see the work of the two countries in the training of Ukrainian forces in the southwest of England, Starmer’s office said, and it is expected that Luxon will confirm the support of that initiative by the end of the year.

During the visit, leaders are expected to discuss plans for strengthening defense and security cooperation, and ministers have instructions to work on a new joint defense partnership between the two countries, the statement said.

Starmer said Britain and New Zealand « for generations are side by side in search of peace and stability. »

« While the world is becoming more and more dangerous, I am proud of how much we do together to support our national and economic security-we increase defense expenditures, together we deploy our Navy in the Indo-Pacific and continue our work to bring Ukraine to the strongest possible position to distract the increasingly aggressive Russia, » Starmer said in a statement.
