Brian Wilson, the creative brain of The Beach Boys, died
Brian Wilson, singer and foreman of the American pop band De Beach Boys, died. His family announced this through a message on Instagram. He turned 82 years old.
Wilson (1942) is considered the creative brain behind The Beach Boys and one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century. Together with cousin Mike Love and brothers Dennis and Carl, Wilson has been making music about life in homestate California since the early 1960s.
Especially the experimental album Pet Sounds (1966) received a legendary status. In 2013 this album was through music magazine Rolling Stone proclaimed on-a-after-best album ever. The group scored big hits with songs like California Girls,, » God Only Knows and Surfin ‘USA In 1972 the surf band Los Angeles exchanged for Baambrugge in Utrecht for the album Holland to record.
Despite all the cheerful songs, Wilson’s life also had a dark side. Wilson struggled with depression and schizophrenia and regularly spent periods in psychiatric institutions. Nevertheless, he managed to release eleven solo albums with The Beach Boys in addition to his oeuvre.
The family has announced no reason for death. Wilson had been struggling with a form of dementia for some time and was no longer able to take care of himself.
