Brave and willing to tell the truth: Jeffrey Goldberg is the journalist who revealed « Signalgate »
The Atlantic editor -in -chief Jeffrey Goldberg, added to a White House group chat at Signalhas served in the Israeli Armed Forces and has outraged the Trump.
Although exactly how Jeffrey Goldberg was found in a Signal group conversation where government officials Donald Trump were discussing Yemen’s secret bombing plans, he remains a mystery, the fate seems to have conspired to add to the journalist.
« They could hardly choose a more suitable candidate, » notes Goldberg, editor -in -chief of The Atlantic, and a person who was already a red cloth for Donald Trump and his circle.
As long as Goldberg is attacked by Maga, at the same time he is widely criticized by some left -wing media for his views on Israel, his past in the Israeli army and his rather right views on Iran and his support for the US invasion of Iraq.
However, since he became the editor -in -chief of The Atlantic in 2016, Goldberg has been in his energetic series of articles and revelations that exhibit Trump with himself leading the kind of journalism that the Maga movement hates.
« Scum »
Donald Trump called him « failed » and « miserable », while National Security Advisor Mike Waltz seems to be the one who invited the journalist to the group conversation described him as a « liar » and « the lower dying of journalists ». The latter even hinted that the journalist might have been « fraudulent in the group chat » in an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News on Tuesday.
Defense Minister Pitt Hegshez described Goldberg as « deceitful and extremely derogatory alveched journalist who has made his profession a furnace » in the order of ad-Honimem attacks on his face to look like an orchestrated targeting.
However this is nothing new. Trump and his circle have again attacked what Goldberg and The Atlantic have in the past.
During last year’s election campaign, Trump reacted with a fury to a Goldberg article where General John Kelly, who served as a White House officer in the Trump Government, described how Trump wanted to have his own generals.
Trump had again dissatisfied with another article by Goldberg published in 2020 that Trump « despised dead US military who had been buried in a French cemetery as a sucker and losers ».
Trump’s hostility on his face has deteriorated by the good relationship that Goldberg has to have with former US President Barack Obama.
Obama gave Goldberg five interviews during his presidency, which were widely praised by the Washington circles.
In the IDF service
Born in Brooklyn to Jewish parents, the 60 -year -old Goldberg studied at the University of Pennsylvania, but left before graduating, according to a 2011 report in the campus newspaper to move to Israel.
He joined the Israeli defense forces (IDF), serving as a guard in a prison holding Palestinian prisoners during the first Iniffa in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
In his memoirs he described that he was a witness to the beatings of prisoners.
His relations with Israel have led to some of his most revealing articles. Among them was his cover story The Atlantic in 2010 predicted that Israel would hit Iran’s nuclear facilities within one year to intercept the plans of the Tehran regime.
Although his prediction was not confirmed, political analysts say the impact of the article « may have prompted the Obama government to step up pressure on Tehran to negotiate its nuclear program, which eventually led to an agreement in 2015, which Trump later renounced. »
« Brave »
Despite his pro -Islamic positions, Goldberg won the credit from fellow journalists for his « bravery to interview Islamists described as terrorists by Western governments ».
Two of his articles in New Yorker in 2002, entitled in the Party of Godthey shed light on the mechanisms and dynamics of Hezbollah, the Shiite paramilitary and political organization based on Lebanon, which was primarily set up to face Israel.
Goldberg was based on personal interviews with members of the organization that took place in the Beka Valley.
On the other hand, Goldberg criticized another article in the New Yorker that same year, which suggesting that Saddam Hussein was a major threat to the US with weapons of mass destruction that were never found after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003.
Controversial and militant, Goldberg’s colleagues defend him by saying that the management of the Signalgate scandal « confirms his talent and courage as a journalist as the edition is surrounded by a hostile administration ».
@msnbc Jeffrey Goldberg, The Editor in Chief of the Atlantic, Reads the Texts He Accidentally Received from Trump Officials on Military Plans. « He’s a very brave guy and, you know, willing to tell the truth, » he clarified.
Signalgate has shaken the US with Trump and its government to degrade it « attacked by journalism and the hostile press ».
