« Convenient traveling in the city remains one of the main priorities of Kaunas. Streets are no longer surprising – it has long been elementary and necessary for city hygiene.
In the early 2022, the promise made in four years to start three new bridges and the construction of one viaduct takes place according to plan. Most of the work is already visible. It remained to be shaken at the Old Town, between the banks of the Neris. We improve all infrastructure in a complex way, thinking about comfort for people, harmonious mobility and urban development directions. We will continue to follow such priorities, ”says Kaunas Mayor Visvaldas Matijošaitis.
On both sides of the Nemunas, the outlines of two new connections are already visible. The so -called Kėdainiai Bridge built between Brasta and Užnemunės streets will eventually not only create more convenient and faster communications by overtaking the city center, but will also significantly reduce congestion.
On the right bank of the future bridge, supports were installed, tunnel retaining walls were built on Užnemunės Street.
He will only descend at MK Čiurlionis (475 m) and Č. Radzinauskas-Lampėdžiai (446 m) bridges. The 23.2 m wide will result in four lanes and pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
There will be two intersections at the accesses. On the side of Brasta Street, the roundabout two lanes, while the viaduct will ensure continuous traffic on Užnemunės Street. On both sides of these arteries, noise barriers are provided.

For pedestrians and cyclists
Over the years, the work has moved alongside the Science and Innovation Center. Between the Nemunas Island and the Low Freda, the future pedestrian and cycling bridge intermediate supports are being taken, and the proliferations and quay supports are taken.
A bridge for pedestrians and cyclists will form a seamless connection with the smaller I. Kant Street and the so -called Firefighter House built a few years ago. According to the project, the structure structures will be 294 m long and the width is over 6 m.
This year, the construction of another similar bridge is planned to be started between Brasta Street and Old Town. This will be 302 m long and 6.5 m wide, consisting of a steel of an uninivited combination system. Currently, contracting procedures are underway.
Attention – and for viaducts
Last month, construction also started at Aleigalio Street. There will be another convenient connection between Kaunas to the A1 bus. It will allow you to enter the city comfortably from the side of Vilnius and leave for the seaside.
On both sides of the highway, the viaduct construction sites are installed, the foundation is installed, and connecting roads are reconstructed.
The maintenance of bridges and viaducts in Kaunas has been receiving great attention for the last five years. Two important construction was completed in 2021 alone.
A new pedestrian bridge was built four years ago from a continuation of King Mindaugas Avenue as Nemunas Street. Its access was decorated with a reconstructed underground crossing, already baptized in a firefighter tunnel. It stretches from the Kaunas County Fire and Rescue Board and disappears directly to the Nemunas embankment over the avenue.

There is also a newly rebuilt Žaliakalnis viaduct, which has been counting for more than 60 years, under which P. Kalpoko Street continues. After the reconstruction, the carriageway part was slightly expanded – two 3 m wide lanes were installed. On the sides of the structure, pedestrians were almost 2 m wide.
