Author-Şair Teoman Ersöz and Painter Solmaz Ersöz, who gave their hearts to education, left traces in different branches of art, was the guest of the Koza program

Retired teachers and artists Teoman and Solmaz Ersöz, who transferred the place of art in individual and social memory in a strong language, were the special guests of the Koza program prepared and presented by Aliye Özenci on Cyprus TV. The couple, who has been producing in different fields of art for years, presented the audience a rich conversation both emotionally and culturally.

Teoman Ersöz shared his passion for writing poetry and his first experiences in this field and shared the cultural effects of Cyprus and the turning points in summer life. He also discussed the interaction of these two disciplines in the writing process by explaining the relationship between philosophy and literature. He had the opportunity to share with the audience by transferring his published books and memories of them to the guests. As an emotional memory, he told the story of his father, who had an important place in his life, to be a martyr and expressed his effects on the art of this pain in his personal life.

Solmaz Ersöz shared how his interest in painting started and his first success. While explaining how he reflected the streets of Cyprus to his paintings, he also touched upon the importance of art in his life.

Teoman Ersöz, who is known for his identity of poets and writer, stated that he carried the traces of the philosophical approach in his poems, and shared detailed information on the books “Breezes from the Mediterranean”, “Yakamozlar” and “Footprints”. Painting artist Solmaz Ersöz said that he met art at a young age and that he turned his interest into oil and black pencil works with his trainings over the years. “Technically oil painting gives me greater pleasure, Ers Ersöz said that his wife also contributed to the proof processes of his books. Ersöz said that he had taken a break from his artistic production for a while and expressed his excitement to get back to canvas again.
Emphasizing that they put Cyprus at the center of art, Ersöz couple stated that they use objects specific to Cyprus and elements that emphasize our traditional traditions in their production. Thus, they stated that they aim to contribute to both individual and cultural memory.
The program was the scene of emotional moments when Teoman Ersöz explained that his father was killed by EOKA during his university years and that it left deep traces in his life. Ersöz, who performed the poem he wrote for his father in his book “Breezes from the Mediterranean”, gave the audience an unforgettable moment.
Addressing the young people and new generations, Ersöz couple emphasized that art is one of the most powerful elements that enrich life and that everyone should take part in their lives in a way.
