Not just an animal

A. Skipskytė, who has grown up in Kupiškis in Kupiškis, has been living in Vilnius for more than 20 years. Her husband is a Vilnius resident, and their two daughters grow in the capital.

Although Agnė graduated from painting, she says she was always more prone to graphics. Many people do not understand what technique they do when looking at her work.

« Paper, mascara, feather or gel pen. Then acrylic, colored pencils, collage details. That’s all. You can see my paintings in a » cat cafe « in Vilnius, » says Agne, adding that her work cafe has no accident.

It turns out that many of her works are combined by the common theme « Woman and the Cat ». Cat appeared in her drawings when Agnes and her family brought a cat in her home.

« For me, that cat is not just an animal for myself. In it I see my eternal grandmother because it is much like it, » she says.

The artist feels and refines each of her paintings. She does exactly the same thing with lace. Starting with extremely simple crocheted flowers, they are currently diving according to a variety of schemes.

« I play one theme, both drawing and diving. Day by day I improve it, deeper. Suppose I have been using the » Woman and Cat « theme for about five years now. I started doing the same thing with crocheted flowers that I sew to the worn sweaters and thus raise a new life, ”she shares her discovery.

A fan of small details

There are many small details on both Agnes’ drawings and sweaters.

« When I was a student, I attended Kupiškis Art School. Our class was divided into two subgroups. We were led by watercolor, more emphasis on the technique, and the other – a complete creator. Her children’s work consisted of the smallest details that were very impressed, » says A. Skipskytė.

The woman does not call herself a professional and praises those who can get up everything they want. He adds that she dived very nicely, her grandmother embroidered.

How and why did you start diving yourself? According to Agnes, it all started with one sweater he thought to embroider. The grandmother’s tablecloth with cornflowers found an example. As much as he tried – nothing good went. Then I thought about decorating it with small crocheted flowers.

Such flower meadows on sweaters are certainly not for everyone. You have to dare, to tune, to be artistic souls.

The sweater came out like a picture with variegated flowers in the background. The image hooked the artist so much that she forgot paper, mascara, pencils and resorted to a new hobby – looking for sweaters in worn clothes stores and updating them in her own way.

“One girlfriend advised them to upload them to the Vinted platform. I didn’t believe she would get so much attention, ”she said.

Agnė is not a sweaters – looking for high quality, good clothing in worn clothing stores. Do you think it’s easy to find them? By the way, Half of Vilnius has to be flushed. As soon as the store threshold is crossed, Agne is already seeing – there is something right or not. It is important that the sweater is monochrome, because only then can it be decorated with flowers.

« When we call my mother, she asks me what I do. I say, ‘The same as always.’ Vadno, I run after Vilnius and look for the right sweaters, ”laughs the interviewer.

At the moment, he says, the graphic illustrations are postponed to the country and their place is occupied by a braid with a crumb and thread.

Recently, the family flew to Cyprus, and Agnė carried a crown in her hand luggage and many small yarn balls. The small scissors in the cosmetics did not stop.

Echoes the writings of the blankets

After the death of Agne’s grandmother, many of her Lithuanian accusations were left. « For me, those grandmother’s woven are so beautiful. Because my mom didn’t need anything, I have all I take them. Sometimes I copy their writings and use them in my paintings.

Does Agne know who the grandmother’s squares are? The woman says she has seen the bedspreads of them and would like to try herself, unfortunately, time limits time.

« After all, I don’t live from art. I get money for a living from more serious work. When they get tired, I start drawing, crocheting, and then turning towards some earthly activity, » the Vilnius resident and the hobby do not call my hobby. He says it is much more – lifestyle, medication, therapy.

« Pleasure », she said, would be too weak a word. « Imagine a woman who flies to Cyprus, and in the evenings, when everyone falls asleep, dives flowers, » Agnė pulls herself through the tooth, saying that some of the flowers really resemble ‘grandmother’s squares’.

Why are such romantic sweaters for? In Agnes’ words, a brave woman. I would very much like to meet such a street with a sweater on the street.

« Such flower meadows on sweaters – certainly not everyone. You have to dare, to adjust, to be artistic souls, » she explains, in his studies, who liked to knit needles.

Now it happens that he is doing things all day, carrying a daughter to the circles, and one sweet thought in her head – when the evening comes, everyone will fall asleep, then she will pick up the crown and create, combine colors, thread thickness, patterns – flowers.

« I use thin threads and Netoris Crisis to make the decor a sweater not overwhelmed, » she shares.

The last experiment of Agnes is a crocheted flower on a denim jacket.

Do you have your favorite colors? Of course. I would like to say that bright, like flowers, but sigima, that at the moment, the colors of the Earth, the most beautiful of which are the plowed Lithuanian soil.

Memories associated with flowers

Agne says that both she and her mother are large flower lovers. Only she grows more succulents (they had as many as 60 pots at a time), and her mother prefers flowering plants.

« One reminder stuck in childhood memory. When we were visiting my dad’s mom (my other grandmother), she lived in a house before which ancient flower beds were merely.

That very grandmother from the Cancer village in May married her four grandchildren to her girlfriend home to Mojava. In other words, May worship dedicated to the Blessed One. To worship the Virgin Mary. On this occasion, an altar with Mary’s sculpture was made at home, and it was decorated with live flowers and garlands.

« In honor of Mary, the women were singing, potter, and we, grandchildren, we kicked out of boredom and sniffed the unrealistic flowers – olives, foams and all those that bloom in May, » Agne shares, adding that he often thinks what both grandmothers would say.
