Two days after the cabinet’s decision to allocate BGN 15 million for the salaries of public transport employees in Sofia, Boyko Borisov, Delyan Peevski and Toshko Yordanov described the step as wrong, but announced that only the government was able to solve the problem in the capital. The three in one voice spoke about the resignation of Vasil Terziev, who was reproached for not being able to form a majority in the City Council and was unable to solve the crises emerging.
The governing stated that salaries in other sectors would no longer rise with budget funds and spoke that this would happen earlier next year – after the budget is accepted for 2026, as GERB, « there is such a people » and « MRF – a new beginning » promised a stable government. In the meantime, the opposition in parliament described what happened in Sofia as an attempt at political pressure, which the mayor did not succumb to. Surprisingly Terziev received support not only from « We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria » (PP -DB), but also from « Revival » and MRF – MRF.

Resignation
Earlier this morning, GERB leader Boyko Borisov gave a tone for the request of Vasil Terziev’s resignation and said: « If the mayor cannot find a majority and seek justification for every thing, resign, make elections and then there will be a majority if he wins. »
He acknowledged that the government’s decision to allocate funds from the central budget was « incidental » and refused to comment on what would happen next year when money would again need to cover the salary increase in public transport. However, Borisov made a proposal to the PP -DB – to support the next state budget in order to provide money for salaries again.

Despite these words, he threw all the blame on Vasil Terziev and said nothing about Boyko Borisov and Rosen Zhelyazkov, who at a briefing from the GERB headquarters on Monday (May 19) announced that BGN 15 million would be allocated. « Completely incompetence of the pude in Sofia, » he added.
