Border controls: The first asylum seekers rejected | Luxembourg word
In the course of the stricter border controls, there were initial rejections from asylum seekers to Luxembourg. The spokesman for the federal police, Stefan Döhn, said that they were four Afghan citizens who had entered Luxembourg. The two women and two men had previously placed asylum applications in Greece.
The four people were discovered at the Trier main train station during the control of a coach. They were rejected in consultation with the police in Luxembourg, said Döhn.
Brussels hugged Friedrich Merz – despite hard border policy
The four people would not have been one of the vulnerable groups that are excluded from rejections. These include pregnant women and children.
Also increased controls at the border to Belgium
On Thursday, after the instruction of the new Federal Minister of the Interior Alexander Dobrindt (CSU), tightened border controls started. The new Federal Government wants to take advantage of undesirable migration with additional border controls and rejections of asylum seekers. The controls were also intensified at the borders to Luxembourg and Belgium, said Döhn. Further personnel reinforcement from the Federal Real Police will be expected next week.
Luxembourg disapproved even sharper border controls
The federal police Trier currently has two inpatient control stations: one on the A64 for entry traffic from Luxembourg and a second on the border with Belgium. In addition, according to the speaker, there are always controls in other places in the 30-kilometer range along the borders. There are a total of 36 border crossings to Luxembourg and Belgium in Rhineland-Palatinate.
