Book publisher Walter Daksha in Saldus reveals the library / day
The premises summarize Walter Daksh’s significant contribution to the rescue of Latvian books – nearly a million units in the library are currently in the library – the fund is stored in Latvian and world literature (poetry, prose, dramaturgy), art books, periodicals (Recreation, Source, Flag, Daugava and others), as well as private archives, photos, documents, literature of history and reference.
« The opening of the library is a very important step in the digital transformation of Latvian culture. With books, my life has been closely linked since I learned to read, becoming a book rescuer at the age of fifteen, protecting books from putting books from waste paper, and at the age of twenty I found my publishing house to fully understand the book.
700 private libraries have been donated to the creation of the Walter Daksh Library, where the library manager has personally visited the donor. In the future, it is planned to buy libraries and warehouse shelves for the library, a book scanner, as well as to attract qualified specialists to the creation of digital infrastructure in the future and to transform real cultural heritage, according to the requirements of the era of files, e-books and listeners, online resources, video instructions and databases.
