Book of the month: Cuban dispute 1962
The book of the month in the Watch Book Club is the Cuban dispute 1962 by Max Hastings. It was first published in 2022 and in Icelandic translation by Magnús Þór Hafsteinsson a year later. But what are the sixty years of events with us today?
Therefore, the book actually answers itself and the author also in the preface to the work. Max Hastings is one of the most powerful writer and historian of later military history. There have been books after him that enjoy great popularity during the First and Second World War, the Korean War 1950-1953, on the Vietnam War 1955-1975, and the Falkland Islands War 1982.
Called by events in contemporary
There are many things in the events in the fall of 1962 that are called to what is happening in international affairs today. National leaders make decisive decisions and often base them on insufficient information, even intended for other leaders.
The book is at the offer price in Penn this month at only ISK 2,999.
