Boeing's engine in Denver lit, terrified passengers flee across the wing of the aircraft

The American Airlines jet engine caught fire after the aircraft had to land in Denver on Thursday, forcing passengers to evacuate with a slide, the Federal Air Force said (FAA). The airline confirmed that all 172 passengers and six crew members were able to safely leave the aircraft, although six passengers were subsequently transported to a local hospital for additional examinations.

AMERICAN AIRLINESA 1006 from Colorado Springs to Dallas, who transported passengers on Boeing 737-800 aircraft, landed in Denver after the crew complained about the engine vibrations, FAA said.

Dramatic shots of passengers standing on the wing of the aircraft were posted on social networks before being evacuated, while thick smoke spread from the engine.

American Airlines stated that the aircraft had safely landed and reached the airport, but then there was a « engine -related problem ».

According to the Fallraddar24 flights pages, the 13 -year -old aircraft was equipped with two CFM56 engines, manufactured in cooperation with General and Safran.

FAA has announced an investigation into the incident. A spokesman for the Denver International Airport confirmed that the fire was extinguished and that flights continued to take place without disorder.

Boeing refused to comment on the event and instructed all inquiries to American Airlines and investigators. GE did not respond to the comment request so far.

This incident is just one in a series of recent problems in the US Air Force industry, which have called into question the safety of air traffic. Among them is the collision of an American Airlines regional aircraft with a military helicopter on January 29, which killed 67 people.

Last month, the Delta Air Lines regional aircraft overturned on the roof when landing at the Toronto airport, in the middle of a strong wind after the Snow Storm, injured 18 of the 80 passengers, but all survived.

Airrican Airlines CEO Robert Isom and Delta Air Lines ED Bastian said on Tuesday that recent aircraft incidents, along with weather disasters and economic insecurities, have adversely influenced demand for traveling in the US.
