Hungary’s Minister of European Affairs, Janos Boca, who is visiting Macedonia, today at a lecture at the Skopje University, said that the European Union is in front of a new era and changes are needed to adapt to the new reality. Facing the challenges of their presidency of the European Council, Boca emphasized that it is necessary to present and discuss alternatives.

– The main challenges are security, competitiveness and migration that require innovative solutions. European institutions are increasingly seen as political actors, and challenges become existential and political – he said.

European institutions are increasingly looking at themselves as political actors, Boca said, and challenges become existential and political. The European Union is politicized, we must accept political decisions and debates in the EU and we must learn how to implement these debates, we must find a way to become more inclusive and make a place to expand those debates, he said.

Deputy Minister for European Affairs Viktoria Trajkov pointed out that the state’s top priority is the realization of the European agenda and the implementation of reforms.

« The Union expects concrete results from us, and in order to fulfill our tasks and become an hour-short part of the European family, we must invest our overall human and institutional potential, » Trajkov said.

She expressed his gratitude to Minister Boca for aid through the Hungarian loan, which helps the development of municipalities and companies.

According to former Deputy Prime Minister for European Affairs Vasko Naumovski, enlargement will contribute to the strengthening of the European Union.

– Thanks to the various ideological paths, the EU went another way, so the popularity of the European Union has diminished. The challenges Europe has at the political and economic level are rising, migration is also a discussion that Europe is not ready to submit. What needs to be done is to improve democracy, Europe to deal with security challenges – he said, adding that these are questions to be answered first by member states.

The Rector of the Skopje University, Ace Milenkovski, also welcomed Europe, according to which Europe could « be big » again with works.
