Board FNV must deposit tasks pending new elections
The board of trade union FNV must deposit its duties in anticipation of new elections. That is what the Supervisory Board, the board of the trade union and a representation of the members decided in a meeting, FNV reports in a press release on Friday.
The board will resign on March 7, with the exception of chairman Tuur Elzinga, writes ANP news agency. He leaves three days later. The Supervisory Board will designate an interim board. This interim board is instructed to « work on the restoration of trust within the association, ensuring a careful completion of the independent investigations, and the organization of the presidential and board elections ».
The board elections, which would take place in the first instance this month, were postponed due to unrest within the trade union. The staff expressed concern about social safety after the alleged unjustified accusation of cross -border behavior against vice -president Zakaria Boufangacha. During a strike on 17 February, the FNV staff demanded a safe working environment and the resignation of the board, which, according to them, has not been able to guarantee safety in recent times. That requirement now seems to be granted.
