Bloody night in Canada! They killed a man, wounded another five more: ‘It was blood everywhere, terrible …’
Toronto police reported that they were a trace for more suspected after a shooting in Lawrence Heights, in which one man was killed on Tuesday night and five more people were wounded. Emergency services received a call about shooting in the Flemington and Zachary Street area near the Ranee and Allen Road Avenue and the Allen Road, shortly after 8:30 pm.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found more wounded with firearms in the passage between the skyscrapers and Allen Road. Officer of the police officer Baheer Sarvanandan stated that the man died in the 1940s, and another four men and one woman were transported to hospital with injuries that were not life -threatening.
He added that there are not many information on the incident so far, but has confirmed that more suspects are still on the run. Asked if they had escaped the vehicle, Sarvanandan said that this was not yet determined and that investigators were still trying to reconstruct the events from the passage.
He also emphasized that there was no danger to public security. Sarvanandan described the scene as great and complex. Although the shooting was passing, he pointed out that the victims were found in other locations shortly after the shooting.
Asked if the shooting was random or targeted, Sarvanandan said that « all the information is not information and that the investigation is ongoing. » He also confirmed that the firearm had not yet been found.
Investigators have established a command center in the area of Ranee and Flemington Street and conduct tests of witnesses and gathering evidence. One resident of the skyscraper, who wanted to remain anonymous, told reporters that he was in his bedroom when he heard between 10 and 20 shootings.
« It was so loud that it was heard through the walls, » he said. He went out to the balcony to see what was happening and noticed more vehicles that left the area at high speed. When he came down, he found chaos and puddles of blood.
« There was a lot of blood, the people shouted and screamed, » the resident said, adding that they were revived by the wounded.
The video delivered by the second tenant of the building shows the scene after the shooting, with several people lying on the ground while others are trying to help them, and police and ambulance come to the scene. Another resident, who did not want to in front of the camera, told CTV News Toronto that he had heard about 20 gunshots while working.
At first, he thought it was a fireworks, because there was no shooting in the area for several years. He recalled that the shots were fired « pretty quickly one after the other. »
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow stated that she was upset by the shooting and that her office was in contact with the police.
– I thank the emergency rooms – the police, the firefighters and the ambulance of the Toronto – for their work in very demanding and hectic circumstances – said Chow.
Speaking for the CP24 from the scene, city councilor Mike Colle, who represents the area, said he was very upset.
– Tonight it looks like a wild west tonight. It is really disappointing and disturbing to see this happening, because in Lawrence Heights in recent years we had peace and silence, and now that peace has been disturbed by such an irresponsible use of weapons – said Colle.
