Bloody hell in gauze: tanks shot for people in line for food

The Israeli tanks shot on a crowd on Tuesday, trying to get help from a truck in Gaza, killing at least 59 people in one of the bloodiest incidents so far, doctors said. The video divided on social networks shows a dozen disconnected bodies lying on the street in Khan Younis in the south of Gaza’s belt.

The Israeli army, which has been in the war with Palestinian militants led by Hamas in Gaza since October 2023, admitted the shooting in the area and said that she was investigating the incident.

Witnesses interviewed by Reuters said Israeli tanks fired at least two grenades on thousands of people who gathered on the main eastern road through Khan Younis, hoping to get food from a truck with help using the route.

« Suddenly they let us go ahead and make everyone gather, and then the tank shells began to fall, » said Alaa, an eyewitness, interviewed by Reuters at Nasser Hospital, where wounded victims lay widespread on the floor and corridors because of the lack of space.

Palestinian doctors said at least 59 people were killed in the incident and 221 wounded, at least 20 in critical condition. The wounded were urgently transported to a hospital in civilian cars, ricksums and donuts.

This is the largest number of deaths in one day since the help of Gaza continued in May.

Israeli defense forces (IDF) said that they were aware of the reports of numerous injured persons and that the Incident details were examined.

» IDF regrets any damage caused by non -invited individuals and acts on the damage to them as much as possible, while maintaining the safety of our soldiers,  » the statement said.

Doctors said at least 14 other people were killed by Israeli fire and air attacks in other places in a densely populated enclave, which increased the total number of dead on Tuesday to at least 73.

The Ministry of Health announced that 397 Palestinians had been killed since the end of May, among those trying to get help in food and more than 3,000 were wounded.
