Nadja Auermann: Kirchgang is like meditation
(dpa) – Model Nadja Auermann finds contemplation in Christian faith in his own words. « I have found for myself: going to church is like a kind of meditation for me, » said the 54-year-old to the magazine « Vogue » (May edition). « And this spiritual has something incredibly beautiful. Above all, because it has been celebrated more or less in this way for over 2000 years, in my eyes it has such a timeless existence. »
Auermann said that she also convinced that she was baptized around five years ago at the age of 49. « I’ve been baptized since 2020. I have always been very religious. However, I grew up in a family that actually rejected religion. But I always believed in God. For me, beauty is something divine. It is the manifestation of love. »
Years ago, her eight -year -old daughter had expressed the desire to be baptized, said Auermann, whose husband is Catholic. The Berlin native explained that she had Protestant religious education at school. With the Catholic Church, she couldn’t do anything « not least because of the whole scandal ». She then started to go to church on Sundays with her daughter to try it out, so to speak.
« And when we were in the service, I had the feeling that the pastor actually only speaks to me, » said Auermann. « The whole sermon, all the content, the chants, everything was so much for my life situation, my feelings fit that I started crying at once. I sat down like a castle dog. » So it was almost every Sunday.
