Bettemburg breathes on: traffic artery Hammerel-Bridge open again
Reason for joy for car and cyclists: The new Hammerel bridge in Bettemburg has been open to traffic since Friday evening. A year ago, in March 2024, the old bridge was initially blocked and then fully torn made. Since then, Bettemburg, at least as far as road traffic is concerned, has been separated in two halves.
The opening is particularly noticeable for drivers. For a year they had to accept the detour through the Wolser commercial zone or over Pepingen and Liwingen to get to another from one side of Bettemburg.
74 euro punishment: This new motorway rule is now valid on the A3
The new Bowstring Bridge was in the meantime pre-assembled in a parking space next to the train station and Pissed over the tracks in their final place last summer. Since then she has been connected to the road network, on the western side of the station to the Rue de la Gare and on the eastern side to the roundabout in the Route de Mondorf.
However, the bridge is not only designed for drivers, they can also use cyclists and pedestrians.
From Saturday no trains between Bettemburg and Luxembourg City
Drivers can breathe a sigh of relief, but rail drivers have to adjust to new restrictions. The reason for this is no longer the Hammerel Bridge, but the CFL work on the new line between Bettemburg and Howald. During the Easter holidays, i.e. from Saturday and until April 21, there will therefore no trains between Bettemburg and the capital. The CFL provides replacement buses.
The same procedure will follow again in summer: This is why, similar to 2024, even this year between mid -July and mid -September, no trains will run between Bettemburg and the capital. The work will continue in the next two years. So means: In 2026 and 2027, no trains will run on this route during the summer vacation.
