Berta hired CFO of the Independence Party


The Independence Party has hired Berta Gunnarsdóttir as the CFO. She will also play the role of the Deputy Secretary General. Berta will begin work on May 2.

Berta is a lawyer in education, but she completed a master’s degree from the University of Reykjavik. She has extensive experience in the field of law, especially in the field of taxation. She last worked at the tax and research field with a focus on money laundering. Previously, she worked as a representative of the law firm Logos and Libra lawyers. She was also previously managing director and owner of Modulus ehf., Which specializes in the production of factory -manufactured houses for Icelandic conditions, says furthermore.

It is also stated that Berta has been an active participant in the Independence Party’s work in recent years. She is a member of the party’s central government and serves as Vice -Chairman of Varðar – the Independent Representative Council in Reykjavik. She also led the Independence Party’s nomination committee in Reykjavik on the eve of the 2024 parliamentary elections.

Berta resides in Reykjavik with her husband, Guðmundur Bergþórsson, businessman and their two children.

It also says that Sigurbjörn Ingimundarson resigns as Deputy Director of the Independence Party after ten years of work for the group.

He was the Secretary General of the parliamentary party from 2014 to 2022, when he took over the position of Deputy Director General next to Þórður Þórarinsson, the party’s Secretary General, who resigned at the last month’s event after eleven years of successful work. It is agreed that Sigurbjörn will continue to advise on the issues of the party office over the next few weeks while new people are taking on the diverse projects that are carried out there.
