Bence Swoboda died two years ago

On June 11, 2023, the ten-time Hungarian and two-time Czech champion riders suffered a terrible accident in the first race of the Czech Championship. He was in third place when he slipped and the competitor behind him drove over. After the blow to his head, he lost consciousness and then performed a life -saving surgery at the Prague hospital. After the tests, it was revealed that the brain functions did not work. The 31-year-old athlete floated between life and death for three days before his organization gave up the fight on June 14, 2023. His father, the amateur Hungarian champion motocross rider, Tamás Szvoboda, saw the terrible case on the spot, and his mother immediately traveled to Prague to be with his son.

Bence’s enthusiasm for his sport began at the age of eight, when he received his first Cross Motor from his parents to learn to ride in the yard of their Balatonberény house. He has been competing for nine years, and during his career for more than twenty years, he has won the championship title in all the junior and adult categories of the Hungarian Championship, both individual and team, a total of fifteen. He also achieved outstanding success in the international field, for example, in 2011, he won World Championship points, and in 2014 he was on the podium at the Italian Grand Prix of the European Championship.

Since 2009, his friend and press officer, Norbert Nagy, has followed and documented Bence’s career.

– It is also about commemoration every day, because there are many objects in my office reminding Bence. Jersey, helmet, a couple of relics, with these I decorated the room. At the anniversary, of course, I will surely think back to the many common memories we have earned together over the years Norbert told our newspaper. – I think he had a team, the owner of the HTS Team, retained his engine, so he remembers Bence and the Hungarian Motorsport Association retired. On the anniversary of his last race, I put a video of it on his Facebook page, which received a lot of comments and likes. Many fans expressed how much space Bence had left behind, how much I missed that without him, he was no longer the same motocross as with him. Many people remember the 521 start, which appears on keychains, stickers, tattoos. His motto (« If you have no passion for you to die, you have nothing to live for » – ed.) Many have sewn it to themselves.

Bence’s unrelated organs were offered by his parents, and they were the opportunity for five people to have a new life.
