Belgian tourist (69) drowned by incident in Spanish marina

A 69-year-old Belgian who was on vacation in Alicante, Spain, would have fallen from his yacht on Sunday evening and drowned. That writes Todo Alicante Wednesday.

According to the Spanish newspaper, the accident happened around 10.20 pm in the marina of Alicante. Witnesses say that the man fell into the water and bumped his head when he bumped into the edge of the jetty or one of the pier constructions with his yacht.

A German couple, which was on a neighboring boat, noticed that something was going on. They heard shouts and strange noises on which they went to take a look at the deck with a flashlight. When they shone in the water, they saw a man floating.

The German tourist jumped according to Todo Alicante Immediately into the water to help the man. The German woman then tried to resuscitate the victim, but in the end the Belgian tourist died. The latter would regularly travel to Alicante and therefore knew many people in the port.

According to the Germans, the man smelled of alcohol, which, according to the police, can indicate that he was under the influence at that time. Camera images also show that the man was difficult for his fall. The National Police therefore confirmed that it was an accident.
