Before lawmakers, the National Bank Governor’s proposal to appoint a Governor of the National Bank
The proposal to appoint a Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia will be the proposal to appoint a Governor of the National Bank of the Republic of Macedonia.
University Professor Trajko Slaveski from the Faculty of Economics in Skopje is nominated for the future governor, which should replace current governor Anita Angelovska-Bezoska. Slaveski’s selection requires 61 votes or a simple majority. Slavevski is the current President of the City Council of Skopje, and previously executed the functions of Minister of Development and Finance.
Slaveski will have a seven-year term, and the proposal for him to be a future governor was submitted by the President of the State Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. Before making the decision, she spoke with Governor candidates, and in the information released after the election she wrote that the choice among the candidates was difficult and that he was guided by the expertise and competence, dignity and integrity, as well as the real opportunity to appoint the candidate.
« We would like to emphasize that the election was difficult, given the proven quality of all candidates, » the president said.
VMRO-DPMNE said they would support the proposal for a future governor, while the opposition said they would not vote for the proposal because they say it is a party staff, not an expert who has been a tradition of governor.
On the agenda of this session are the amended Draft Law on Amending the Law on Local Self -Government, second reading and Draft -law Amending the Law on Culture, shortened procedure.
