Double victory – BDO fetches « all -rounder Styria » and the specialist category « International and Group Tax Law ».
More than ten awards are already decorating the halls of the leading auditing and tax consulting firm BDO- distributed to the federal states. This year, the BDO branch of Graz was recognized as a « all-rounder Styria », while Alexandra Dolezel won the specialist category « International and Corporate Tax Law » for the second time in the eleven years of the competition.
Great joy
« We are very pleased that our customers: Inside us for the fourth time to be the best tax advisors: Interior in Styria, » emphasizes Peter Pilz, partner and member of the Executive Board at BDO, site manager Graz. « We see this as a confirmation that we managed to advise and accompany you as best as possible last year. » Because the times are not easier: « Central topic in the currently very tense economic situation is liquidity, » says Pilz. « That is why we are currently supporting companies with analyzes of their financial structure in order to avoid oversurance and unfavorable conditions and create transparency. Based on this, we ensure that the financing is both sustainable and to the business model and, if necessary, show alternative financing models. Virtually all companies have options that are not yet exhausted. »
Even if the federal government has to save, there are still funding pots that need to be used: « An important component in advice is currently funding that can help to strengthen the financial strength of the company, » says Pilz. « In the areas of digitization as well as research and development, funding is crucial to make necessary investments and finally get back into action. Only wait until the storm is over is the wrong way. In view of possible savings on the government, we advise all entrepreneurs to check their funding potential as soon as possible. »

The economic environment also becomes rougher internationally. This does the work of tax advisors: particularly demanding inside, says Dolezel. « In my opinion, Austrian companies are related to international activities from a tax perspective, which has never been the case with this extent, » said the BDO partner. “The for more than ten years OECD-Projects to avoid international tax avoidance have led to a massive increase in complexity and density of regulations and thus also of administrative effort. These projects should reduce unfair tax competition between the states and unfair tax practices from companies. In the meantime, however, it seems more that these regulatory works primarily lead to a competitive disadvantage for Europe, since other countries are the jointly chicial rules, unlike that EU-Member states, do not implement and also provide for the rules that foreign taxes are being recovered from the Austrian subsidiary, for example. ”
Furthermore, a massive tightening of the audit practice in Austria should be noted in which one had the feeling that members of the external examination had a specific tax incipulation mandate and wanted to see what complaint then finally before the BFG or VwGH can be fought successfully. All of this against the background of the more difficult economic framework, which continuously led to bankruptcies or triggered massive “cost cuttings” in some companies, said Dolezel. She advises companies to plan and carefully implement their international appearance – also to minimize costs, punishments and uncertainties.
