Bassist Heideroosjes steps up after arrest in a child porn shop
Fred H., the bass player of the Limburg punk rock band Heideroosjes, has been detained since 25 February due to a child porn store. The band confirms that on Monday On Instagramin response to reporting by The Limburger. H.’s lawyer tells the newspaper that the bass player is suspected of possession and distribution of child pornography.
The band writes « broken (too) shocked » of the news. H. would immediately have resigned as a bass player, because he does not want to ‘burden the other band members with this private issue’. « We have to give this event a place and we need time for that, » the band writes.
The OM does not want to confirm the identity of H., but says that a 50-year-old man from Sevenum has been arrested. This man is suspected of ‘having entered with child pornographic images’. His provisional detention was extended on 13 March. The OM does not want to say more, now that the police investigation is still ongoing.
According to his lawyer, H. « online extreme tension was looking to deal with stress, which he experienced both business and private, a form of coping. » « He denies any sexual preference for minors. »

Heideroosjes was founded in 1989 by singer Marco Roelofs, Frank Kleuskens on guitar, drummer Igor Hobus and also bassist Fred H. has been there since that very beginning. They released their first albums in-house, built up a live reputation and played at Lowlands and Pinkpop within a few years. Especially the album Fifi (1996) was picked up widely, thanks to the sing -along ‘Sjonnie & Anita’.
The band stopped in 2012, but in 2019 they came together again to celebrate their thirtieth anniversary for a few shows, and it had to stay there. But because the Coronapandemie broke out afterwards, the band started writing and rehearsing, and start touring again. The album followed in 2021 Infocalypse. In the past year they played on Zwarte Cross and Paaspop, among others.
