Karpos Mayor Stevco Jakimovski has been sentenced to three years and six months in prison for two crimes of abuse of office, while a former municipal employee received a two -year probation. The verdict is not final, and Jakimovski has the right to appeal to the Appeal. He said at the beginning of the trials, he had no guilt.

– The Basic Criminal Court Skopje announced today the verdict on the case with KOK no. 157/21 against SJ and TC, with whom the two defendants were found guilty of the crimes of them and condemned them in a way that: SJ. is condemned to a single prison sentence of 3 years, while TC. He was sentenced to an alternative measure – a suspended sentence of 2 years in prison that would not be executed unless a new crime committed in the next 5 years – the Criminal Court said.

For the sake of public interest, the court announces part of the sentence of the verdict:

– In today’s announcement of the verdict on the case with KOK no. 157/21, the President of the Council expressed his concern that this procedure lasts more than 6 years, and that there is no reasonable justification.

After the procedure began over again, due to the change of the President of the Council, and how the parties agreed to be read earlier evidence, in less than a year, this case ended in the first instance.

Given that due to the amendments to the Criminal Code regarding the crime of abuse of power and authority under Article 353, hundreds of cases have exposed, and as the Public Prosecutor’s Office has continued the criminal proceedings against the defendant SJ, after finding this court, it can be a prolonged crime, as neither the court can do not I item 1 and item 2 of the harmonized indictment, pursuant to Article 402 paragraph 1 item 6 of the Criminal Procedure Code, because criminal prosecution cannot be taken due to obsolescence.

The court found the defendant SJ guilty for the crime-illegal construction referred to in Article 244-a paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code for the construction of a business facility-the administrative facility of the local self-government, and sentenced this crime to a prison sentence of 1-one year. The sentence for this offense is from 3 to 8 years in prison, but given the purpose of the facility as well as the penal policy of this court, the court imposed this sentence. Namely, according to the data, 17 cases were held in this court so far, 8 of which were completed with conditional sanctions. And in only two cases are prison sentences.

Pursuant to Article 244-a paragraph 6 of the Criminal Code, the built real estate Business Building-Administrative facility of the local self-government located on KP no.612 for CM Karposh, on the street « Radika » no.9, shed 1 and 2, is deducted in favor of the Republic of S. Macedonia.

Court sentenced defendant S. And for a crime – abuse of power and authority referred to in Article 353 paragraph 4 VV. With paragraph 1, Article 45 of the Criminal Code, in prison for 3 – three years.

Given that the defendant SJ is being tried at the same time for two crimes, the court has previously sentenced the penalties for each offense separately, and sentenced him to a single sentence of 3 years and 6 months for the two offenses. The defendant’s prison sentence also raised the time spent under house arrest.

The court also condemned the defendant TC, a previously employed in the Municipality of Karposh, for a crime – abuse of power and authority referred to in Article 353 paragraph 4 VV. With paragraph 1 VV With Article 45 of the Criminal Code, he has sentenced him to an alternative conditional condemnation, so that the evil is sentenced to imprisonment of 2 – two years and at the same time stipulated that it will not be carried out if the defendant for 5 – five years of the final crime of committing a new crime – reads the court.

The two defendants should also compensate for the damage to Macedonia’s budget.

Stevce Jakimovski, the current mayor of the Skopje municipality of Karpos, was also on the black list of the US State Department last year.
