A van that stuck under the railway bridge of the Spesbroekstraat: in Wondelgem they no longer look up. A week ago, the city placed new signs to warn drivers, but they are not clear enough.

« Note, low bridge, » says large letters on the signs, with photos of unfortunate drivers who preceded them and got stuck. The city of Ghent had new traffic signs installed in mid -April to warn drivers about the Lage Bridge.

But a driver of a black van had clearly not seen those signs, because he was stuck on Friday afternoon under the infamous railway bridge in the Spesbroekstraat in Wondelgem.

However, it is clearly indicated to the bridge: vehicles higher than 2.20 meters cannot pass. But many drivers are misered. Vestures are stuck every once in a while, sometimes several on a day and regularly with a lot of damage as a result.

The police confirm that another delivery van was riding. The fire brigade also arrived. « No one was injured and there was no damage to the bridge either, but the incident caused traffic disruption for a while. In the meantime, the roadway is free again, » says police spokeswoman Clio Van Peteghem.
