Bangladeshi’s « Village -Porneio » – When the exploitation becomes horror

Abducted by gangs as children, sold by their own family and deceived by friends and chefs, life for some girls and women touches the horror.

Their life is limited within a village of Bangladesh that is exclusively dedicated to prostitution.

‘We just want to play’ the girls say

More than 1,500 women and girls are forced to serve the wishes of more than 3,000 men a day for just 2 euros in the village of Daulatnia, where one of the largest detention houses in the world is located.

Bangladesh is one of the few countries tolerating prostitution and girls are forced to follow their mothers in the exploitative industry from the age of 14 – the age of consensus in the country.

Trapped until they repay their debt, girls who fall victim to trafficking in Dauladia – consisting of a series of shacks spread out in a maze of alleys – face a life full of physical and mental suffering in which no child should be subjected.

« We just want to play, we like to play. I wish someone could arrange another place, somewhere outside the house where we could live, « he had previously revealed an innocent girl who had been dragged into Daulatia, According to the Daily Mial.

Customers consider it fun

Her life, along with the thousands of other vulnerable women and girls who fell victim to, was revealed by a client who boasted: « Any girls I like, I will go with them. I don’t feel bad for anyone, everyone has to have fun. «

About 3,000 men visit the house of tolerance every day, most of whom are truck drivers who stop in Daulatnia due to its privileged position next to a train station and a ferry terminal on the Padma River, an important channel starting from Ganges.

When a truck driver was asked if his wife knows what they were doing, he laughed and told Arte.tv in 2020: « No, he would kill me. »

Another, laughing with his friend, « jokes »: « There are young and old. From 10 to 40 years old. Prices vary accordingly, from 60 cents to 10 euros. «

Amnesty International

Last month, Amnesty International told Dauladia women that they are not alone, after a shouting appeal to take measures to close Dowulania and replacing it with « suitable homes and a workplace for women ».

This happened a few weeks after a new shots pulled in the 12 acres village appeared on the internet. In the video, men seem to be patrolling dense alleys, looking for women they want.

Filled with corrugated iron shacks, small shops and open sewers, Daulatnia is a village that is not repaired – and is not the only one.

The flow of women and children moving to the Bangladeshi sex industry is so high that private cemeteries needed to be manufactured in at least two prostitution, Kantaparas and Daulatia, due to the high mortality rate and the growth of suicide women.

Testimonies punch in the stomach

The dire position of women and girls living in Daulatia has been revealed over the years, as the cameras have been able to enter the interior and interview the victims of horrible trade.

In the last two decades, local NGOs have struggled to improve women and children’s living conditions. It is believed that 500 to 1,000 children live in space, mainly in the same rooms where their mothers work.

In the past the The Guardian newspaper Talk to girls, women and men about life in the village of Porestry.

A young girl revealed with gross melancholy: « There are bad people around here, they touch your body and do these other things and then my mom is angry. »

Another woman, who fell victim to trafficking in people in Dowulania when she was a child, said: « I don’t know where they got me, they brought me here and then they sold me. »

« They caught me when I was about eight years old. I didn’t understand much, today the kids understand more, but I wasn’t like that. «

« A woman offered me two chocolates and I followed her here. He brought me here and then he sold me. We entered the front entrance and then left the back door. They threatened me, so I had to stay here. I had no choice but to stay. «

Still longing to go home, he added: « If I saw the woman who sold me, I would say nothing. I would give her whatever money she wanted. Just go with me and leave me to school. That’s all I need. If you leave me behind that school, I will be able to find the way home. «

Another mother, talking about her ten -year -old daughter, said: « We have to accept customers in front of her. »

State and Police know

While many girls sell sex from their homes or on the road, more than 5,000 women and girls are divided into 11 huge houses across the country.

Some of them date back to hundreds of years ago, every tolerance house is registered with the government and is being monitored by local police. Here, a triad of powerful institutions – government, police and religion – oversee and approve the rape, enslavement and abuse of hundreds of thousands of girls’ adolescence.

« Bangladeshi police know everything that is happening in prostitution, » says Azharul Islam, program manager of Rights Jessore, a local non-governmental organization working to rehabilitate marketing children working in sex and return to their families.

« Prostitute owners are involved in gangs, and our political leaders and law enforcement authorities are also involved in these gangs. »

Corrupt government officials benefit by receiving bribes and sexual grace in return to ignore abuse.
