Baltic XL / Livonia title defense in Rugby77 starts with a victory in Stage 1 of the Latvian Championship / Day

The big holidays began with the first round of the Latvian Championship in rugby-7 men. Eight teams, which were divided into two subgroups, competed in Baldone. The 2024 champions « Baltic XL/ Livonia » were in the same group with « Phoenix », « Hedgehogs » and « Bears », while in the other played « Baldone », « Butchers », « Livonia » second team « AB Solutions/ Livonia » and « Jurmala ».

After one lap, the top two teams in each group entered the semi -finals, determining the winner of the stage after the elimination competition. The third and fourth place winners played matches for fifth and seventh place respectively.

Baltic XL/Livonia dominated the field in all three sub -group games, winning a very big lead against « bears », « hedgehogs » and « phoenix », providing the semi -finals with second -place winners of the other group, « Miesnieki » who, without a way, conceded to the second group.

In the second group, Baldone was convincingly the best, including winning all games and finishing in the « Hedgehogs », who outscored the « Lāčus » and « Phoenix » in their group -like games with 8 and 7. Meanwhile, the fate of the second place and the meeting in the semi -finals decided between the « Butchers » and AB Solutions/Livonia. The first half turned out to be very similar, with a two -point lead at 12:10.

The first semi -final between Baltic XL/Livonia and the Butchers started very similarly. Although the « Butchers » did not show such good performance, the principal duel with Livoniu gave them additional motivation, which was also manifested in the fight. The status of Baltic XL/Livonia was actually disclosed at the end of the first half, with the first points after Michael Jurevich’s touchdown in the penultimate or 6 minutes. At the very end, Jake Tatu « Baltic XL/Livonia » provided the Livonians a second touchdown. This time the shot was accurate, so I went 12: 0 during the break.

In the second half, Jurevich was the first one who was the first to score, this time the court a little earlier, increasing the Livonian lead to 17: 0 in the 10th minute. A few minutes later, the young Livonian Mark Gardovich won the first, but overall the second touchdown. In the last seconds, Tom Asejev, with a spurt across the pitch, earned the first points of the butchers, preventing them from losing dry. He himself was accurate in realization, so Baltic XL/LIVIIA did not exceed 20 points – 24: 7.

In the second semi -final, the score was opened much earlier, but in the third minute, thanks to the touchdowns of Elmar Shefanvoska and Eglitis, Baldone had reached a two -digit number on the scoreboard. In the remaining few minutes of the first half, the home side still scored two touchdowns – Bajarunets and Bokišs. 75%, or three of the four free kicks, Alain was accurate, with the first part of the game ending 26: 0.

In the second half, Baldone’s superiority continued to manifest, scoring several more touchdowns and reaching 52 points. This semi -finals, too, did not end dry, as Reinis Zviedris opened the score for « Hedgehogs » at 5:52 at the last minute. By the way, these were the first points in this tournament for Baldonians.

Lāči beat Jurmala in an equivalent battle at the very end with 24:12 and won 7th place.

Playing for 5th place after a similar start in the middle of the first half, AB Solutions/Livonia scored two touchdowns and was once accurately realized, with a score of 12: 0. Another touchdown of the Livonian second team made the first half of the first half 17: 0.

At the start of the second half, the « Phoenix » received a touchdown, to which the Livonians responded with the same – 22: 5. The determination of the Valmiera people drowned, but the subordinates of Marc Roller scored three more touchdowns for the rest of the time, finishing 37: 5 and the AB Solutions/Livonia took 5th place.

In the game for third place, « Butchers » were confirmed in the first half, finished in the first half with 22: 0 in their favor. In the first four minutes of the second half, the initiative belonged to the « Hedgehogs », but then the ball was intercepted by the butchers, with Asejev’s touchdown, which the experienced player repeated a minute later – 34: 0. As a result, « Butchers » third place.

Alainis was accurate in realization and the home side approached until 12:21. Baltic XL/Livonia immediately responded with a touchdown for the second time in the finals. The realization was accurate, and in fact the winner was already clear – 28:12.

In the fifth minute, Shefanovsky made a breakthrough from the middle of the field, creating a very good chance to save a little more, but the Baldonian captain didn’t have the power to finish the sprint, playing well and making a grip. At the very end, however, Baldone brought the third touchdown, so this year the Livonians started defending the title with a 28:17 victory in the final game this year.
