Baltic capitals agree on closer cooperation in civil defense / day
On May 20, the Civil Defense Forum of the Baltic Capitals, « Safe Cities, a Strong Region: The Baltic Capital Forum on Civil Protection, was held in Tallinn, in which the city representatives exchanged experience and signed a memorandum, agreeing on closer cooperation in civil protection.
During the forum, the capital’s leadership and leading civil protection experts exchanged experience and discussed solutions to the common challenges in the field of civil protection.
The main objectives of the Baltic Cooperation in the field of civil defense will include the establishment of a joint cooperation system to facilitate multi -level management and improve coordination between the municipality and the public authorities. The emphasis is also on the preparation of coherent action and response plans for various crisis situations, mutual assistance in emergency situations, the process of exchange of knowledge and experience, as well as public awareness and involvement.
The Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Deputy Chairman of the Riga City Council Linda Ozola (« Code for Riga »), Mayor of Tallinn Eugene Osinovsky and Vilnius Vice Mayor Andrius Grigonis.
