Bad diagnosis for the soloist of a famous band

Morten Harket, the main soloist of the Norwegian A-HA group, whose single ‘Take on Me’ was one of the popular songs in the 1980s, announced on Wednesday that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.

In a statement published on the band’s website, information confirmed by the Sony Music, Morten Harket, 65-year-old records, said he has supported several brain operations and manages to manage the symptoms of the disease.

Parkinson’s disease causes damage to the brain nervous system, leading to tremors of the limbs and other symptoms that worsen with the passage of time. The disease can be kept for a period under control through surgery and medication, but there is no treatment.

Morten Harket said that he had supported some neurological procedures last year in which the doctors implanted electrodes in his brain and that those interventions have reduced his symptoms.

Known for the varied range of his voice, the Norwegian artist said he does not know if he could hold concerts again.

« I had no problem in accepting the diagnosis, » he said, adding that it was difficult to find a balance between medication and the management of the side effects.

« I try my best to avoid my entire system to decline, » Morten Harket said.

The A-HA group, founded in 1982 by Morten Harket and his friends Paul Waaktaar-Savoy and Magne Furuholmen, became internationally known in 1985 with his debut album ‘Hunting High and Low’, which included several hits, such as ‘Take on Me’ and ‘The Sun Always on TV’.

The song ‘Take on Me’ recently appeared in the second season of the HBO series of great success ‘The Last of Us’ when the main character Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, played an acoustic version of this song.
