Autarchic will not be surprised
Somewhere these days I was in a very nice birthday lunch of a friend of many decades. Word pulls word and was fatal as fate: conversation flows into legislative elections whose surprising results left the PS in a comatoso state.
There he said some oterals, contrary to an opinion that the people had turned to the right, arguing me to express a revolt about realities with which they are faced daily, the last of which, the CP strike to scarce days of elections.
One of the great mistakes of our politicians is to let themselves admitted to stigmas of decades, so rooted in their reasoning and not be able to free themselves to say what they really feel, hacked by the fears of ‘politically correct’. Until the Ventura came to say what ‘n’ people like to hear because they live daily with what they consider to be injustice and vote for him, sending ideologies to the Malvas.
It started alone in Parliament, rose to 12 deputies, then 50, in this 60 and we will see if it is here. Against the Prime Minister, his speech will not change, carrying it from what distinguishes him from other parties, never entering want from ideology at risk of losing votes.
From the legislatures to the municipalities was a jump in the conversation, being given the motto by one of the guests when referring to the case of Loures, where phrases based on being common about concrete housing problems with which they debate, its mayor (Ricardo Leão) was verified by their own party (PS), because leftist dogmas were concerned. In these elections, this president was not forgotten and the PS had an excellent vote winning the county.
Taking this example, I reassured and perhaps scared some of the present when I mention that I do not believe that the arrival has great results in the municipalities, even giving examples of municipalities where it has gained but I believe that the work of current presidents will surely guarantee the reappointment. These municipal elections have little ideology, prevailing the image (or charisma) and the work of the mayors, coming in the background their political color, but determining if they do bad work.
I must confess that my theses did not welcome the guests of this lunch, moving to very concrete cases. Lisbon and the probabilities of coins being elected, the socialist Alexandra Leitão appearing that can clearly unite the left by the ideological scope as probable ‘saved conduct’ of currencies for the election. The unknowns of Porto or Sintra were debated without consensus, prevailing convictions about the possible predominance of arriving in multiple zones of the Algarve or Alentejo, always with me to disagree, giving the example of Setúbal where I believe in the victory of Maria das Dores Meira.
The lunches of friends and friends of our friends have these advantages: everything is discussed, sometimes heiled, but nothing serious subsists and resisting a toast to the birthday’s health. Outside these lunches, the problems are resolved. Minority governments are one of the wounds that elections leave us, by the immaturity of national politicians, unable to overcome questiudulas, how many times mediocre, to prevail the short views. Not even with Germany they learn. We will see what the autarchics reserve us.
