Attempted running over the PSP agent marks police operation in the lisboeta derby
During the derby -mounted security operation between Benfica and Sporting in Lisbon, PSP recorded an attempt to run over one of its agents near José Alvalade Stadium. The incident was around 5:30 pm, at the intersection between Alameda das Torres lines and António Stromp Street, and the driver of the vehicle was arrested for resistance and coercion on an employee.
The detainee was in possession of several pyrotechnic articles, which were seized, and will be presented to a judge to determine any coercion measures.
In the balance of the operation, which took place since 13h00 in the vicinity of the two stadiums, the PSP indicated that there were no other serious incidents before the game. At the end of the game, 10 supporters were identified for different reasons. Three were caught with pyrotechnic material and one by displaying an unauthorized stripe.
Another four were identified by crimes: two for aggression between supporters, one for insulting a sports assistant (ARD) and another for offenses to an ard. Two individuals were also prevented from entering the Luz Stadium, one for excessive alcohol and one for refusing alcohol test.
The PSP also confirmed that it was identifying the fan who entered the lawn after the final whistle.
