ATO participants were convicted of preparing an attack on humanitarian events

In the Southern District Military Court, a sentence was sentenced to five residents of Melitopol, who participated in the international terrorist community. For the preparation of the attack at the place of distribution of humanitarian aid, they were appointed from 11 to 14 years.

Residents of Melitopol Igor Gorlov, Andrei Golubev, Alexander Zhukov, Vladimir Zuev and Yuri Petrov ended up on the bench of the defendants of the Southern District Military Court (Rostov-on-Don) in June 2023, after about about a year earlier they were detained by the FSB on suspicion of participation in the terrorist community (part 2 of article 205.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) international terrorism (part 1 of article 30 and part 1 of article 361 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Before the start of a special military operation, all five defendants were members of the Union of Participants of the ATO Melitopol. This organization, uniting local war veterans with the Donbass militia in the period 2014–2022, was headed by a certain Vladimir Mingko. After the liberation of Melitopol by the Russian army, he became the organizer of the terrorist community, to which, according to the investigation, Gorlov, Golubev, Zhukov, Zuev and Petrov voluntarily joined. Of the defendants, Andrei Golubev, who headed the Melitopol Kung Fu and served in the border worshipers of Ukraine, is most famous of the defendants.

According to the prosecution, community participants in March 2022 began to prepare an explosion next to the distribution site by the Russian authorities of humanitarian assistance to residents of Melitopol. Simultaneously with the main explosion, community participants were going to shoot military equipment from the military personnel of the Russian Federation who participated in the humanitarian action from grenade launchers.

The place of the attack was determined by Mingko. Gorlov, Golubev, Zhukov, Zuev, Petrov took on training, in particular the creation of caches with weapons and ammunition. After the detention in the garage of one of them, the FSB officers found Kalashnikov assault rifles, machine guns, pistols, cartridges, anti -tank and anti -personnel mines, shots to grenade launchers, hand grenades, shells for mortars, explosives, detonators and even the Igla Manking Code.

For the explosion, the attackers decided to use the Red ZAZ-1102. Igor Gorlov made a bomb and placed it in the car. However, the alleged terrorists could not finish the criminal intent, since their activities were suppressed by the Russian security forces: they first caught Zuev, for the next five days they found four more. Mingko could not be detained.

During the trial, the accused refused to admit guilt. At the same time, Gorlov and Golubev petitioned the recognition of their prisoners of war, which was denied. As a result, on April 29, Gorlov and Petrov received 14 years, Golubev and Zhukov – 12 years each, and Zuev will have to spend 11 years behind bars.
