Athletics coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen is convicted of abuse

On Monday, the verdict in Norway came very highlighted the goal against athletics coach Gjert Ingebrigtsen, who was charged with physical and mental abuse by two of his children.

The 59-year-old father is convicted of abuse by his 19-year-old daughter and is sentenced to 15 days of guardianship and to pay SEK 10,000 in damages to the daughter.

« He is relieved by the decision, » says Gjert Ingebrigtsen’s lawyer John Christian Elden at a press conference in Oslo, according to the magazine Verden’s Gang.

The well -guarded trial, where Gjurt Ingebrigtsen denied a crime, lasted for seven weeks. The prosecutor claimed 2.5 years in prison and damages of SEK 400,000.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen is found guilty at one point, which during the trial was called for the towel eaphis period and which must have caused the daughter to move away from home. – The decisive factor for the court’s conclusion was that there was no evidence that showed that Gjert Ingebrigtsen created a constant fear of their children. The court has particularly emphasized that close family members and outsiders have not seen or experienced abuse, says John Christian Elden.

Among other things, the siblings’ brother, Martin Askeland Ingebrigtsen, claimed that he grew up in a safe home and never saw any abuse.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen is One of Norway’s largest sports stars with Olympic gold at 5,000 meters in Paris this summer and at 1,500 meters in Tokyo 2021.

At the same time as the athlete has broken with his father, the father has continued to cooperate with Narve Gilje Nordås, one of Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s foremost competitors.
