Egg freezing is a procedure that helps delay motherhood. However, it is limited in time, because with age the quality of reproductive cells of women deteriorates.

To what age should be freezed eggs – told « Up. Life » of reproductologist Kateryna Babenko and Galina Strelko.

Kateryna Babenko says that it is best to do this procedure up to 33-34 years.

« After 32 it is worth considering freezing, even if the woman is conditionally healthy and has a normal egg reserve, but the next 5 years are not going to be pregnant.

After 35, their quality will be bitten every year. In 36-38 years the likelihood of genetic anomalies reaches 60-70%. If at a young age it takes 4-5 eggs to get one healthy embryo, then at 36 years-7-12 « , – explains the doctor.

According to Galina Strelko, there is no striking difference between the quality of eggs of 25-year-old and 30-year-old, unlike women aged 35 and 40 years.

At the same time, the difference between the eggs of the 39-year-old and 43-year-old doctor calls « catastrophic ».

After 40 years, the chances of getting healthy embryos become very low. Therefore, at this age, it is better to do fertilization immediately, because there is a high risk that after thawing with eggs, nothing can be cultivated.

To freeze the eggs, it is necessary:

• undergo hormonal ovarian stimulation, during which several follicles grow at once;

• puncture – minimally invasive intervention, when the liquid is taken from ripe follicles and looking for eggs in it;

• Make cryopreservation – during it, eggs are placed in special vessels with liquid nitrogen.
