At the New Riga Theater, director Juris Rijnieks is staging Tennessee Williams’ Play Glass Bandy / Day
American playwright Tennessee Williams’ memory game Glass Belongs to the 20th -century dramaturgy masterpieces, which allow you to feel the fragility of a person’s inner world and the power of our dreams. The play of the play in Chicago in 1944 brought attention to the unknown author and the following year Glass was played in Broadway and won the New York Critic Prize The New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award. The play storyline is the author’s semi -autobiographical and reveals family relationship tension, each dreams and illusions.

Director Juris Rijnieks was the artistic director of the New Riga Theater from 1992 to 1997. During these years, his direction made known performances such as Matisse – Bajar, three piglets and wolf, promised land, spring awakening. After almost 30 years, the director will again create a show on the theater stage at 25 Lacplesa Street.
Staging Glass Scenographer – Mārtiņš Vilārssis, costume designer – Jolanta Rimkute, light artist – Nick Cyprus, video artist – Artis Dzērve. The translation of a new play in Latvian has been prepared by translator Inguna Becke. Starring Elita Klavina, Agate Krista, Ritvars Logins, Tom Harjo.
