At the end of the heating season, preparations begin to be prepared: what is important to know Kaunas residents

As a reminder, in Kaunas 2024-2025 The heating season ends on April 15. (began on October 14, 2024). First of all, radiators will stop warm in apartment buildings. Education and health institutions will be decided in the near future. 2023-2024. The heating season began on October 16. and continued until April 29th.

Information – online and SMS messages

Hydraulic city heat network tests cause high pressure in the pipelines to detect defects, causing the buildings to be temporarily stopped by the supply of cogeneration water, which is used to prepare hot water.

Hydraulic tests will begin on April 22. and will continue until the end of August.

When and how long hot water will not be in the building, users can conveniently find out on the website of Kauno Energija, all you have to do is enter your home address. All dates of hydraulic testing this year will be announced in the near future.

Information on temporary interruption of hot water supply can also be obtained by short SMS. Consumers wishing to receive such messages are invited to contact the Information Center Mano Kaunas by phone (0 800) 20,000 and update their contact information

Piping older than 50 years old

Kauno Energija renews the oldest pipelines with the highest risk of accidents and heat supply to the highest heat supply in order to supply heat in a reliable and efficient way.

« Almost 80 % of the main networks have already been updated in Kaunas, but there are still a number of piping in the city, which are needed.

Pipelines on King Mindaugas Avenue were laid 1968-1970. One of the oldest pipelines in the city will be replaced on the section from S. Daukantas’ pedestrian bridge to the heat chamber 5K-14 (between D. Poškos and J. Gruodio St.). The length of the track is about a kilometer. Part of the work will take place in the yards of the dwelling.

Active preparation work is currently underway and the reconstruction of the pipelines will begin with hydraulic tests.

« In order to cause minor inconvenience to the population, the work will be done in several stages. The last reconstruction of the tracks will be completed by mid -September, then the reset to restore the environment into the former condition, » says Ramūnas Jančaitis, Project Manager at Kauno Energija.

Will update 13 km of pipelines

This year, the reconstruction of the Kaunas Energija city heat supply network will also be carried out by Aleksotas (European Ave.), Dainavos (Partizanų St.), Eigulių (Iron Vilko St., V. Landsbergio-Žemkalnio St.), Petrašiūnų (Sandraugos str.), Šilainiai (Baltų Ave.) Academy campus Universiteto str.

The development of the network is planned in Aleksotas (European Ave.) and Petrašiūnai (Ateities pl.), Kaunas Free Economic Zone.

A total of about 13 kilometers of pipelines will be reconstructed and new ones will be built. The investment will reach more than 5.6 million. euros.

The biggest investment – in reliability and efficiency

According to V. Mockevičius, the pipelines older than 30 years of age must be replaced, as their inner and outer layers are damaged by corrosion, which increases the risk of fractures and cogeneration water leakage during the heating season.

Increasing the reliability of heat supply, the reconstruction of pipelines, is the largest annual investment of Kauno Energija. These investments also increase the efficiency of heat supply. Due to the corrosion of old pipe walls, more heat reaches the exterior, so the sections where the worn pipelines are replaced with new ones, the savings of heat supply amounts to about 37 % per year.

The new type of factory is a polyurethane insulated pipe for at least 30 years.

The beginning and end of heating – by decision of the population

We would like to remind you that although the official end of the heating season is announced by municipalities, residents who want to finish the season or warm the season longer, they can make a decision themselves – by agreement between most co -owners (50 % + 1).

If most of the co -owners of the apartment building agree with the decision to advance or delay the termination of the heating, the President or Administrator of the Community must be informed of the heat supplier. Hygiene standards must be maintained in the apartments – at least 18 degrees.
